There are also watery and floral elements in this picture, as well as in ‘Uferzone’. There is always a lot to discover along the way, ‘not far from the path’, even if the apparent chaos always has an order or a system - just like in nature itself. Beate Köhne does not paint the plant, but its growth. The pictorial elements often seem to be flying, whether of their own accord or moved by the wind. This special lightness characterises her abstractions of nature. And also this power, the energy of fauna, which ultimately comes from the earth (rarely visible in her paintings).
